About us

The Treasury Department is responsible for overseeing the financial management of WBSS. We manage society budgets, approve and process payments, monitor expenditure, maintain financial stability, and support event planning by ensuring activities are financially sustainable and profitable. We work closely with the Board of Management and other departments to provide accurate financial oversight and ensure that society funds are managed responsibly, transparently, and in the best interests of our members

Our Recent Projects

This year, the Treasury Department is focused on strengthening the society’s financial management by introducing a more professional, realistic, and sustainable budgeting process. We are developing clearer budget planning and monitoring systems to improve financial stability across all events and activities. We are also working to increase transparency by providing the Board of Management with greater visibility over the society’s finances, budgeting decisions, and expenditure. In addition, we are redesigning the fresher transition process so new committee members become involved in treasury responsibilities earlier, allowing for better knowledge transfer, greater accountability, and a smoother handover between committees.

Interested in applying to the treasury department?

We're looking for recruits for the upcoming academic year. Join the team behind WBSS, apply now.

We are looking for candidates who embody the values of WBSS and are genuinely committed to contributing to the society. Treasury is a role that requires responsibility, organisation, attention to detail, and integrity, so we value individuals who are reliable, proactive, and willing to take ownership of important financial responsibilities. We also look for candidates who are eager to learn, communicate effectively with the wider committee, and contribute throughout the year rather than only during the handover period. As the Head of Treasury is one of the society’s most critical executive positions, we encourage competitive candidates who are prepared to demonstrate their leadership, professionalism, and commitment over the course of the year before taking on the role.
