About us

The legal department supports WBSS by working on legal matters, including reviewing and drafting agreements, NDAs and sponsorship documents, supporting negotiations, maintaining the Society’s constitution, and helping ensure that events and activities are appropriately documented and managed. We are also working to expand our department and create legal events across many different areas of law. This includes building relationships with lawyers, law firms and other organisations, and creating events where students can learn about different legal careers and the skills needed to succeed in them.
Our Recent Projects
One current project is exploring Fireside Chat events during Freshers, with a particular focus on Legal AI/technology and corporate law. The aim would be to bring in professionals who can give students a practical insight into how areas such as AI and legal technology are changing the profession, while also allowing students interested in corporate law to hear directly from people working in the industry. This would be particularly valuable because we have found these to be quite topical areas.
The department is also exploring a potential hackathon collaboration with a legal AI company. This would provide students with a more hands-on opportunity to engage with legal technology and think about how AI can be applied to real legal or commercial problems. Rather than simply discussing legal AI in a presentation, a hackathon could encourage students to experiment, collaborate and develop practical solutions.
