About us

Build the model. Make the call. Defend it.

The Equity Research department produces in-depth investment research on listed companies. Our research team combines Micro Analysts, who analyse individual companies, with Macro Analysts, who cover the economic backdrop, under a Team Leader who sets priorities and reviews every piece of work. Together they take a company from first idea to final recommendation: forming a thesis, forecasting from the bottom up, valuing the business with a DCF cross-checked against comparable companies, and testing the result against the macro outlook. Every report ends in a clear recommendation and price target. We also work with the Quantitative Investment Group on the Investment Challenge, its academies and the Quant Paper Fund.

Our Recent Projects

Last year our analyst teams covered three companies in three very different industries: Cameco, one of the world's largest uranium producers; SoFi Technologies, the US fintech and digital bank; and Datadog, the cloud monitoring and security platform. Each project produced a full research report and its own valuation model. Forecasts were built from the drivers that move each business — uranium volumes and realised prices for Cameco, customer numbers and spend per customer for Datadog — and then stress-tested through sensitivity and scenario analysis.

Interested in applying to the Equity Research department?

We're looking for recruits for the upcoming academic year. Join the team behind WBSS, apply now.

This year we are recruiting a new research team, with dedicated Macro Analysts working alongside our Micro Analysts. The department suits people who are numerate, meticulous and happiest when the numbers reconcile. You'll learn to build a view from company filings, official statistics, Capital IQ and Bloomberg data, and to use AI the way good analysts do: to move faster, never as a substitute for checking. We welcome undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, and prefer technical degrees such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Accounting and Finance, and Economics.
